Goals

My goal is to lose weight and take pledges for every pound I lose. 100% of all pledges will be given the Lupus Foundation of Minnesota. And to raise awareness for lupus.

I am hoping that my friends, family and acquaintances will help me raise money as I raise awareness for lupus and lose weight. Please email me or leave a pledge in the comments section.

Any amount will help. It all adds up. A penny, a dime, a quarter a pound, everything will be appreciated.

I will start by pledging a $1 a pound.

The get-fit-a-thon for lupus starts today February 13, 2009. It ends in 3 months. Why 3 months? That is the 10th anniversary of my 30th birthday. If I don’t start losing weight before I am 40 then I probably never will.

Background

This may come as a surprise to those of you who know me but I have been diagnosed with obesity. I know, it has come as a shock to all of us. And my wife has lupus. Obesity and lupus both affect our quality of life. While there is a cure for obesity there still is none for lupus.

I have tried everything possible to lose weight, except eating less and getting more exercise. And since there are no provisions in Obama's bailout package to protect me from myself I have decided to try something unconventional, embarassing and drastic in order to lose weight.

I needed to do something that would embarrass me if I failed. The more people who know the more I will be compelled to succeed. My hope is that the dual goal of a healthier me and raisig money for a charity that is important to me will motivate me enough to really get fit this time.

How will this help me lose weight? Fear of embarrassing myself. Support, of my friends and family.

Obesity is my chief health concern and Lupus is my wife's chief health concern. Theyboth affect every aspect of our lives. by shortening the length of our lives and lowering the quality of our lives.
